Private family funeral services, celebrating the life of Mary Lou Edwards, 82, of Thornville, were held on Saturday, December 23, 2023, in the chapel of The HOSKINSON Funeral Home, Thornville, with burial following in Wilson Cemetery, Newark. Mary Lou passed away Thursday, December 21, 2023 at her home following an extended illness. She was born February 8, 1941 in Newark, the daughter of the late Harold and Hazel (Mahan) Gatrell. She was a graduate of Johnstown High School, class of 1959, and was a lifelong homemaker. She loved flowers and gardening and spending time with the grandchildren. She is survived by her loving family: her husband James Edwards, whom she married in April of 1960, her sons Kevin Edwards, Jeff (Cammie) Edwards, her daughter Tammy (Joe) Bailey; her grandchildren Audra (Jeff) Cannon, Marisa Edwards, Clayton Edwards; her great grandchildren Kyler Edwards, Claire, Tristan and Cora Cannon; her brother John (Connie) Gatrell. Honoring Mary Lou’s wishes there were no calling hours.
