A Homegoing Service, celebrating the life of Mary L. Farmer, 81, of Columbus, formerly of Newark, will be held on Monday, December 18, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Noble officiating. Burial will be held at Newark Memorial Gardens at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church, 383 Washington Street, Newark, two hours prior to the funeral service on Monday, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Mary was born in Jasper, Alabama on August 3, 1942 to the late Lewis T. and Anna B. (Wallen) Hill. She passed away at Grant Medical Center on December 8, 2023. Prior to retirement, she was a customer service representative with Ohio Power for many years. She was an active member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church and was a former member of the American Legion, Post #85. She enjoyed gardening, shopping, traveling, baking and going to casinos. Most important was the time she spent helping others and the time she spent with her loving family and friends. She will be missed by everyone that knew her. Survivors include her children, Tyrone Hill, Tamara (Kevin) Byrd and Elaine Farmer; sister, Rosetta Magwood; grandchildren, Tiffany Hill, Paris Hill and Brittney Ortiz; great grandchildren, Levi Carter and Luna Ortiz; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Farmer; son, Bruce L. Farmer; sister, Earnestine Allen; and brother, Monroe Hill.
