A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary Ann Gibson will be held at 10am, on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at the Hoskinson Funeral Home in Thornville. Burial will follow in Lutheran Reformed Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 6pm-8pm, on Tuesday, at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street. Mary Ann, age 87, passed away Thursday, November 25, 2021, at Chapel Grove Inn. She was born June 30, 1934, in Thornville, a daughter of the late Merrill and Carrie (Fisher) Rarick. She was a 1952 graduate of Pataskala High School and attended Capital University. She had worked at Rockwell International as a receptionist and had been a rural route postal carrier. For many years she played the piano and organ at Jersey Presbyterian Church. Her compassion extended to many neighborhood feral cats that she made certain were fed and cared for. Surviving are her children, Dan (Lisa) Gibson and Ann (Jay) Schmidt; her grandchildren, Gregory (Rebecca) Braskett, Jeffery (Shannel) Gibson, Jennifer Gibson, Jeanette Hollen, Michael (Jennah) Hollen, Carrie (Eli) Reebel; great grandchildren, Rosalie, Chase, Everett, Easton, Emeric, Marissa, Alaina, Harper, Addelynn, Triston; one great-great grandchild, Charlie and her ‘fur kid’ Blaze. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard O. Gibson in 2001.
