Mary Louise Morrison

A Funeral service celebrating the life of Mary Louise Greathouse Morrison, 92, of Fairborn, formerly of Thornville will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018, in the chapel of The Thornville home of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Lieutenant Colonel John Clement Morrison, who preceded her in death on October 2, 2016.

Mary Louise was born on January 14, 1926, in Zanesville, Ohio to the late Walter S. and Carrie Melina (Boal) Greathouse. She passed away with her family by her side, early Tuesday morning, October 9, 2018, in Hospice of Dayton. She was a graduate of Jacksontown H.S., class of 1944.

Born on a farm, and raised during the Great Depression, Mary developed a dedication to family and hard work. As a military wife and homemaker, she traveled extensively, living in many countries throughout Europe. These included England, France and Germany, among others. As a devoted mother, she raised four children in a loving, Christian home. Her love for her husband, John, her children, and her grandchildren was boundless, always putting her family before herself. Throughout her adult life, she attended the Base Chapels on multiple U.S. Air Force bases. Mary’s interests and hobbies were gardening, sewing, baking and playing the piano.

She is survived by her loving family: children Roger Morrison of Flower Mound, TX, Karen Morrison of Superior, CO, and John (Lisa Lelbach) Morrison of Marysville; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter Jeanette Sloane; her grandson Tony Richardson, her brother Wilford Greathouse, and her sisters Leora Brocheus and Helen Hupp.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 56 South Main St. in Thornville. Memorial Contributions in her honor may be directed to the Columbus School for the Deaf. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
