Mary Lou Myers

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary Lou Myers, age 92, of Millersport, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 17, at the Kirkersville home of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service with Pastors Tim and Cathy Ralston officiating. A private graveside service will take place at Woodhill Cemetery in Franklin, Ohio.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at the funeral home, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville.

Mary Lou was born March 5, 1930 in New Lexington, Ohio to the late Nellie Ruth (Strait) Shiplett Montell and was raised by her grandparents, Grandpa and Grandma McClintock. She passed away on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at her home.

Mary Lou was a 1947 graduate of Somerset High School. Following 31 years of service, she retired from the U.S. Postal Service where she had been a rural route carrier. She had also been formerly employed as a carrier by the Lancaster Eagle Gazette and also worked on the family farm. Mary Lou enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and gambling at the casinos.

She is survived by two daughters, Michelle Myers of Westlake and Lucretia Myers of Millersport; four great-grandchildren, Serenity Jenée Maples, Glen Ray “Gavin” Wood III, Malachi Beck, and Aimee Leigh Beck; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother and grandparents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George E. Myers III; a granddaughter, Danielle Maples; two brothers, George Shiplett and Terry Shiplett; and a sister, Anna Lee Griggs.
