Mary Frances Runkel

Funeral services, celebrating the life of Mary Frances Runkel, 98, of Millersport, will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28th, 2024, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial to follow in the Millersport Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest next to her husband Bob, who preceded her in death in October, 2010.  The family will receive friends on Tuesday, from 12:00 noon until time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E. Main Street in Kirkersville.

Frances was born December 18, 1925, in New Boston, Ohio, the daughter of the late Edward and Ada (Van Horn) Buckle. She was a graduate of Clay Township High School, class of 1943. Frances and Bob moved to Millersport where they resided their entire adult lives.

Frances and Bob were united in marriage on April 19, 1945, in Greenup, Kentucky. Their marriage lasted for 65 years, until Bob’s death in 2010.

Over the years, Frances was active in several community organizations including TWIG #13, VFW auxiliary and Millersport American Legion Auxiliary; along with her long membership in the Millersport Methodist Church.

Frances is survived by her daughters Suzanne (Bob) Hite of Mt. Perry, Patty (Joe) Thomas of Millersport, her grandchildren Kim (Hal) Rundell, Jennifer (Terry) Holbrook, Amanda (Lisa) Hallam, Courtney (Dustin) Bidwell, Ashleigh (Joey Jones) Hooker; along with her 12 great and 2 great-great grandchildren; and her brothers Donny (Janet) and Ronny (Carol) Buckle and several nieces and nephews.
