Mary A. Shoemaker

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mary A. Shoemaker, age 87, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 18, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Mark Falls officiating. Burial will take place in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Mary was born September 15, 1936 in Palmyra, New York to the late Jerome Martin, Jr. and the late Anna (DeVries) Martin. She passed away on Friday, January 12, 2024 at her home.

Mary attended Newark Baptist Temple. She loved to knit and crochet and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Robert (Terri) Stonebraker, Diana (David) Armstrong, and Nancy Jo (Eric) Landis; eight grandchildren, Rob (Darcie) Lowe, Robby (Louise) Stonebraker, Nicole (Glenn) Brown, Ashley Stonebraker, Josh Stonebraker, Christian Shoemaker, Arria (Bill) Watson, and Courtney Landis; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Richard Shoemaker; a son, Peter Shoemaker; a brother, Ronald Martin; and a sister, Josephine Loiselle-Loiacano.
