Funeral services, celebrating the life of Mary Jane Thompson, 83, of Alexandria, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with burial to follow in the Popeye Thompson Family Cemetery near Alexandria; where she will be buried next to her husband of 60 years, Lovett “Popeye” Thompson, who preceded her in death in 2016. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of the funeral services.

She was born in Columbus on November 4, 1937, the daughter of the late Charles A. Wright and Mildred Gieseck. Mary Jane was a graduate of Summit Station High School, Class of 1954. She was a hard working farm wife and homemaker.

Her favorite activity was cooking large meals for her family, making pies, feeding the birds and playing cards.

Mary Jane is survived by her loving family: children Kim (Joe) Polvino, Toni Fletcher, Leisa (Vince) DeFilippo, Clint (Mary) Thompson, Linny (Bruce) Lane; her sisters Shirley (Benny) Keyser, Charlene ( Bob) Geer; grandchildren Ty (Ange) Higgins, Jason (Jill) Miller, Brad (Nikki) Higgins, Casey Reed, Holli (Aaron) Jarrell, Clay (Ashley) Ramsey, Leota Lane, Noah Thompson and Kathleen Novak; 14 great grandchildren; her sisters-in-law Ellen Fravel and Jayne (Ron) Young; special family friend Bob (Debbie) Carr.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two son-in-laws Dale Ramsey and Roger Fletcher.

The family prefers that memorials be directed to St Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 1404 Goodale Blvd #200, Columbus, Ohio 43212.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Mount Carmel Hospice for their loving care of Mary Jane.
