Mattie Lee Ash

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mattie Lee Ash, age 78, of Newark, will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 26, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Michael A. Noble officiating. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Mattie was born September 30, 1937 in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Nathan Ash and Estella Prince. She passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016 at the Heath Nursing Care Center.Mattie was a member of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. She was dedicated to her family and raised seven children. She enjoyed cooking and watching movies.She is survived by her children, Nathan Ash of Cincinnati, Renee Ash and Christopher Ash, both of Newark, Thomas Ash of Johnstown, Pamela Ash of Newark and Stephon Ash of California; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Alice Bonner and Brenda Latimore, both of Newark; and nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, David Louis Ash, on July 12, 2008.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for Mattie and her family.
