Melba G. Kintz

A funeral service celebrating the life of Melba G. Kintz, age 90, of Newark, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 6, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Chaplain Cheryl Simpson officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Melba was born July 3, 1932 in Alexandria, Ohio to the late Ephraim and Sara M. (McManis) Ellis. She passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Melba was a 1950 graduate of Alexandria High School. She was employed for many years in the meat department at the Granville IGA and Newark Meat Supply. Melba was a beloved community grandma to many kids in the area. She loved to bake and was especially known for her delicious pies and cookies.

She is survived by three children, Thomas D. (Dona) Kintz II of Elmer, New Jersey, Elma M. Kintz of Newark, and Christine L. (Clay) Kintz Stephenson of Chester, Arkansas; grandchildren, Mary Kintz of Winslow, Arkansas, Joshua Ozburn of Billings, Montana, and Ashley (Tyler) Ford of Wilmington, Delaware; great-grandchildren, Jaxon Scott of Booneville, Arkansas, Isaac Roberts of Mulberry, Arkansas, Kinsley Ford of Wilmington, Delaware, and one great-grandchild on the way; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Daniel Kintz, on April 16, 2007; and by five brothers and five sisters.
