Melody Lynne Cook

Melody Lynn "Mel" Cook, age 61, of Newark, passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center (operated by Hospice of Central Ohio).

Melody was born April 13, 1962 in Columbus, Ohio and was a 1981 graduate of Licking Valley High School and CTEC where she studied Medical Technology. She was employed with the National Guard Armory for a time and also volunteered at the American Legion. Melody was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary #85 and #804 for 52 years. She enjoyed crafts and was an excellent cook.

She is survived by her loving husband, Steven P. Cook, whom she married October 27, 2012 but they had been together for 23 years; brothers, Jimmy (Brenda) Hoadley and Mark Metz; in-laws, Mary Metzen, Carol (Rob) Hall, Scott (Karen) Cook, and Marcia (Kevin) Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her mother, Kay (Riffle) Jones, she was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Faught; and a sister.

At her request, no service will be observed.
