Melvin E. “Gene” Loudermilk, 74, of Newark, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital on February 24, 2024. He was born in Clintonville, WV on January 31, 1950 to the late Arvel D. and Reneda G. (Blankenship) Loudermilk. Gene proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, Gene worked in the construction trade for many years. He enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, hunting, listening to music, playing chess and reading poetry. Most important was the time he spent with his loving family and friends, especially with his dog, Brutus. Survivors include his sons, Craig E. (Courtney) Loudermilk and Cory R. Loudermilk; siblings, Norman (Dee) Loudermilk, Linda Loudermilk and Gary Loudermilk; former sister-in-law, Karen Loudermilk; and many nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by the love of his life, Karen (King) Loudermilk. A Celebration of Life service for Gene will be held at a later date.
