A funeral service celebrating the life of Melvin Ray Diller, age 86 of Thornville, will be held Friday, April 14, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service with Pastor Jeremy Shank officiating. Interment will follow at New Lexington Cemetery, where military honors will be provided. Melvin was born in Bristol, Ohio on January 9, 1931 to the late Michael and Leila Faye (Fauley) Diller. He passed away on April 10, 2017 at the Anchor Lodge Retirement Village in Lorain. Melvin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Thornville United Methodist Church, where he served as an usher and was also a member of the Ohio Farm Bureau. Melvin worked at Rockwell International as a young man, until he was able to take an early retirement at age 55. He enjoyed farming, raising cattle and going to farm auctions and sales. Melvin was a hard working respected farmer and was known for helping other farmers when in need. Survivors include his daughter, Molly (Craig) Zoladz; son, Patrick J. (Dee) Diller; grandchildren, Adam (Ashley) Diller and Katie Diller; one great grandson, Alek; close niece, Susan; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee (Hoy) Diller; and brothers, Edgar, Rodney and John Diller. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 56 S.
