A celebration of the life of Michael L. Johnson, 76, of Pataskala, will be held from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 11, 2023, in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Military Honors by the Licking Co Veterans Alliance to follow at 5:00 p.m. Michael passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2023, in Columbus, following a brief illness. He was born July 3, 1946, in Louisville, Ky., the son of the late Lotus Nestor and Marie M. (Farris) Johnson Nestor. A graduate of Watkins Memorial H.S., class of 1964, he served honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam conflict. He worked at both AT&T as well as Boeing Corporation at the Newark AFB, from where he retired. Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, and caring for his property. As the eldest child, he cared deeply for all his siblings and family. His pride and joy was his family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his loving family: his wife Betty, whom he married on Dec 28, 1974, his daughters Tami (Joe) Colopy and Cindi (Chris) Strawser; his grandchildren Chase, Cody, Celeste, Cierra, Hayden, Madison Olivia; his great granddaughter Luna; his brothers Donald Nestor of Brownsville and Charles Nestor of Plain City, Ted Nestor of Pataskala, Donald Nestor of Billington WV; sisters Cassie Grafton of Pataskala, Sharon Davis of Pataskala and Mary Nestor of Galloway, WV; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother James Johnson. The family prefers that memorial contributions in his memory be directed to the Wounded Warrior project.
