Michael Allen Schmidlin

October 8, 1956 — July 28, 2020

Michael Allen Schmidlin, age 63, of Granville, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at Mount Carmel East Hospital. Michael was born October 8, 1956 in Columbus, Ohio to the late Harry Joseph and Elenora Louise (White) Schmidlin.

Mike was a 1974 graduate of Whitehall-Yearling High School. He was employed with Scott Collins and Associates for 18 years and was also formerly employed with Columbus State Community College and, most recently, with Village Green Property Management. Mike enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, playing softball, and motorcycle riding. He had quite a green thumb and enjoyed gardening. His family meant the world to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Kimberly Sue (Colwell) Schmidlin, whom he married May 25, 1981; four children, Brooks (Kira) Schmidlin of Hopewell, Anthony (Ashley) Schmidlin of Newark, Ciera Schmidlin of Granville and Amy Schmidlin of Texas; grandchildren, Brooklyn Schmidlin, Audrey Boeshart, Myca, Kaylie and Kennedy Schmidlin, Laykin and Sophia Curry, and Legend and Macie Schmidlin; siblings, Terry (Marty) Gough of Thornville, Linda Schmidlin of Columbus, Mark Schmidlin of Reynoldsburg and Lynne Hoffman of Ashville; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Butch and David Schmidlin; and a sister, Karen Schmidlin.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.

The family will have a celebration of Mike's life at a later date which will be announced.
