Michael Wayne Stevens, Sr.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Michael Wayne Stevens, Sr., age 78, of Newark, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 28, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. The service will begin with military honors observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Michael was born April 22, 1946 in Columbus, Ohio. He passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025.

A veteran of the United States Army, Michael proudly served in the 101st Airborne Division. He retired from American Electric Power where he had been employed for 41 years. An avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes, Michael enjoyed hunting, fishing, and coaching youth football and baseball. His greatest pastime was spent in the press box of Licking Valley High School football as a spotter for 35 years. He was a member of the Elks, Moose, and VFW. Michael was loved by everyone who knew him and always had a smile on his face with a funny story or joke to tell.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Darlene (Lambert) Stevens; son, Michael (Angel) Stevens, Jr.; daughter, Michelle (Marc) Bramlage; grandchildren, Taylor (Evan) Williams, Noelle (Cameron) Vayansky, Mason Stevens, Alijah Stevens, Hagen Bramlage, and Lilly Bramlage; great-grandchildren, Tripp Williams, Tregg Williams, and Tristyn Williams; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth; grandmother, Rose; and 13 brothers and sisters.
