Mildred Leota Burton

A funeral service celebrating the life of Mildred Leota Burton, age 93, of Newark, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 17, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Paul Martindale officiating. Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, September 16, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mildred was born July 30, 1928 in Licking County, Ohio to the late Roy Edward and Theresa A. (Burden) Price. She passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Altercare Newark South.

Mildred was a floor supervisor with Buckeye Linen for over 45 years. She was a member of the Salvation Army Home League, the DAV Newark #23 Auxiliary, Blue Star Mothers, where she was past president, the Druids, where she was past Arch Druis, and the Oinettes.

She is survived by a granddaughter, Wendy (Bryan) Stroup; great-grandchildren, Aaron Stroup and Abby (Connor) Hughes; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Price of Newark; sister-in-law, Beverly Price of Newark; numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond E. Burton, in 1998; a son, Jerry Joseph Price; step-son, Lester Wayne (Ellen) Burton; and her siblings, David Edward “Morris” Price, Shirley Luckeydoo, Margaret Ayers, June Rose Walcott, Roger Price and Dale Price.
