A Funeral Mass for Mona Jean Byrd, age 91, of Hebron, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 5133 Walnut Road, Buckeye Lake, with Father William Hritsko as celebrant. Inurnment will follow in Hebron Cemetery.Mona was born October 7, 1925 in Perry County, Ohio to the late Cecil Ray and Lelia Gertrude (Post) Dew. She passed away on Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at Arlington Care Center in Newark.Mona was a 1943 graduate of Corning High School. She had been a beautician and was the owner of Monas Beauty Salon in Hebron for 45 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church. Mona enjoyed sewing, crocheting, tending her flower gardens and quilting and had made 50-60 quilts. She won 1st place for her handiwork at the Ohio State Fair.She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Art Byrd, whom she married December 1, 1962; sons, Jim (Christine) Walpole of Naples, Florida and Tim (Christine) Walpole of Newark; step-daughters, Karen Chong of Tigard, Oregon, Jennifer Delano of Belleville, MI and Susan Horner of Milan; 13 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sister, Marjorie (Bob) Seimer of New Lexington; and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Eldon Hanford Dew, Eston Glen Dew, Ellis Byron Dew and Thomas Oris Dew; and two sisters, Donna Mae Schoonover and Annabelle Dew.Memorial contributions may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio.Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service in Kirkersville is honored to care for Mona and her family.
