Monte Lee Short

A memorial visitation, celebrating the life of Monte Lee Short, 63, of Somerset, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 24, 2017, in the Thornville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 South Main St. in Thornville; with memorial services following at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Larry Ruh will be celebrant. Inurnment with full military honors will follow in the Somerset Cemetery.Monte passed away peacefully, on Sunday evening, June 18, 2017, in the Pickering House, Lancaster. He was born in Marion, on February 27, 1954, the son of the late Mary Lou (Long) Short and Richard Lee Short of Cardington, Ohio.Monte served honorably in the US Air Force, and worked as an over the road truck driver for over 40 years. Monte enjoyed watching westerns and talk shows on T.V.He is survived by his loving family, wife Connie (Rizer) whom he married on Feburary 27, 1979; his children: Jennifer (Adam) Woodgeard, Monte R. Short and Shawn (Erin) Short; his grandchildren Brittany (Joshua) Ford, Katlyn (Sherman) Barker, Abigail Woodgeard and Kenneth Short; great grandson Sherman Barker; brothers Larry, Guy (Sandy) Short, and his sister Jackie Short.The family prefers that memorials be directed to the FairHoPe Hospice, Pickering House, 282 Sells Rd., Lancaster, Ohio 43130.
