Monte Monroe

A funeral service celebrating the life of Monte Monroe, age 86, of Grove City, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 24, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Clifford Mason as Celebrant and Aerospace Lodge #800 F & AM observing a Masonic service.

Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. prior to the funeral at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Monte was born August 9, 1937 in Chillicothe, Ohio to the late Denver Harrison and Mary Melvina (Riley) Monroe. He passed away on Thursday, October 19, 2023 at Brookdale Pinnacle Senior Living in Grove City.

Monte was a veteran of the United States Navy. He retired in 1992 from DCSC after over 30 years of service as a computer specialist. Monte was a member of Center Star Lodge F&AM which later became Aerospace Lodge #800 F& AM. He was also a member of the NRA and loved his cats.

He is survived by his children, Tracie Monroe, Stephanie (Larry) Boyd, and Kirk Monroe; grandchildren, David (Monica) Semons, Trevor (Vanessa) Awe, and Sam Boyd; great-grandchildren, Tarik Semons, Dante Ritchie, and Jade Ritchie; a brother, Steve (Leisa) Monroe; a sister, Joyce (Wayne) Neff; sister-in-law, Lavonne Monroe; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn JoAnne (Wade) Monroe; a son, Eric Monroe; and a brother, Harvey Monroe.
