A memorial gathering, to celebrate the life of Myra Jane Smith, age 72, of Columbus, will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Newark Elks Lodge, 73 N. Third Street, Newark.Myra was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 7, 1944 to the late Robert and Zula (Hall) Stottler. She passed away at National Church Residences in Gahanna on December 8, 2016.After raising her 5 children, Myra completed an Associate Degree at Central Ohio Technical College in Criminal Justice. Prior to retirement, Myra was a Coordinator with AmeriCorps, where she was involved in community development whether it was tutoring children, planting community gardens or creating crime prevention activities for Newark residents. She was a member of the Newark Eagles Lodge. Myra had an outgoing personality, never met a stranger and loved everyone she met.Survivors include her five children, Tonya Flory, Christopher Flory, Tiffany (Shawn) Flory-Jones, Chad Litten and Tamara Litten; eight grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (Cathy) Stottler, Jr. and Gary (Arlene) Lewis; and a wealth of friends.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Myra to the Ronald McDonald House, 711 E.
