Nancy Sue Austin

A funeral service celebrating the life of Nancy Sue Austin, age 76, of Newark, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, with Pastor Tim Sowards officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date in Croton Cemetery where she will be laid to rest with her husband Danny.

Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Nancy was born August 2, 1948, in Newark, Ohio to the late William and Pleasant (Lees) Vermillion. She passed away unexpectedly on her birthday, August 2, 2024, at Licking Memorial Hospital.

Nancy was a graduate in the first nursing class at COTC and received her BSN from Capital University. She was a Registered Nurse and was Director of Nursing at several area nursing homes. For many years she was a traveling nurse consultant all over the United States. Nancy was an active member at New Bethel Christian Union Church in Croton where she played the piano. A former member and minister’s wife at Northside Church of Christ, Nancy was also a former member of Croton Church of Christ where she taught Bible and Sunday School classes.

She is survived by three children, Scott (Susan) Wolfe, Christa (Rod) Milner, and Trevor (Brooke) Wolfe; grandchildren, Amanda Wolfe, Daniel (Heather) Neff, Joshua (Angie) Wolfe, Colton Milner, Thomas Wolfe, Shelby (Ty) Van Fossen, and Montana Wolfe; great-grandchildren, Sadie Scott, Tucker Scott, and Eris Heavlin; a brother, David (Sheila) Vermillion; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by her husbands, Danny Wolfe and Pastor Frank Austin.
