A funeral service celebrating the life of Newell Dwight Chaney, 84, of Millersport, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, 2014 in the Fletcher Chapel United Methodist Church with his pastors Phyllis Fetzer and Rick Marhsall as co-celebrants. Burial will follow in the Fletcher Chapel Church Cemetery.Newell died suddenly on Monday morning, May 26, 2014, following a brief illness. His family was at his side. He was born December 31, 1929, in Columbus, the son of the late Donald and Gertrude (Carnes) Chaney. He was a graduate of Canal Winchester H.S., class of 1948, and retired from OSU Print shop after over 40 years of service. He also farmed his entire life. He was a member of Fletcher Chapel U.M. Church, Trustee of the Fletcher Chapel Cemetery for many years, and was a former member of the Watkins Memorial School board from 1970 to 1980.He is survived by his loving family: Sons Bruce (Linda) Chaney of Lebanon, TN., Kim( Jody) Chaney of Pataskala, Sam (Rhonda) Chaney of Tucson, AZ., daughter Jackie (Tom) McCurdy of Lancaster, step-children: Cathy (Joe) McDonough, Michael (Lori) McKown, Amy Halverson, sister Donna (Aaron) Breedlove of Carroll; his 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley.The family will receive friends on Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Kirkersville home of The HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville, where an on-line guest register and video tribute are available at www.hoskinsonfuneral.com
