A funeral service, celebrating the life of Norma Jean Blauser, 86, formerly of Hebron, will be held on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at 1:00 p.m., in the chapel of the Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Brett Rizzo as celebrant. Burial will follow in Basil Cemetery, Baltimore. Norma passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2016 following a lengthy illness. She was born in Columbus on July 11, 1930, the daughter of the late Raymond and Myrtle (Weaver) Hornung. She was a 1948 graduate of Liberty Union H.S. After raising her children, she returned to college and received her degree from the Ohio State University, teaching vocal music in the Walnut township schools, and was a reading specialist and second grade teacher in the Hebron elementary school, retiring in 1990. She was an active 4-H advisor for many years, along with her husband Robert she founded the National Roaders 4-H club and was active with the club for over 25 years. She was an avid musician, serving as organist and childrens choir director at Kirkersville United Methodist Church. Norma enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, fishing and knitting. She is survived by her loving family: Dr. Cathrine Allyn Darr of Fresno, Molly (Lee) Pletcher of Pataskala, David (Lisa) Blauser of Crooksville, Bobbie (Dr. Gary) Schnitkey of Champaign, Ill., Victor Blauser of Columbus; and her 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren. In addition she is survived by her brothers-in-law Stanley Jr. (Barbara) Blauser of Stockton, N.J., Wayne Fritz of Baltimore, sisters-in-law Becky Todd of Baltimore, Pat Blauser of Pickerington and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Robert R. Blauser, a son Norman Walter Blauser, a son-in-law Jack Darr and her sister Phyllis. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 11:00 until time of the funeral services at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 285 E Main St. in Kirkersville.
