Octavia Angle

A funeral service celebrating the life of Octavia Angle, age 89, of Newark, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 3, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with burial to follow in Smith Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, June 2, and for one hour prior to the funeral on Saturday at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street in Newark.

Octavia was born April 11, 1934 in Lucasville, Ohio, the daughter of the late Oakley and Ella (Jenkins) Montgomery. She died peacefully at home on Sunday morning, May 28, 2023. A life-long homemaker, Octavia enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, picking berries, and canning. She was a Southern Baptist by faith.

She is survived by her loving family: sons, Barry (Debra) Ellis and Robert (Julia) Ellis; daughter, Karen Angle; brother, Clifton Montgomery; and sister, Freda Blevins; along with numerous grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Tammy Angle; son-in-law, Fred Starkey; and sister-in-law, Marlene Montgomery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; son, Clarence Angle; daughters, Vickie Ellis and Gwendolin Starkey; brothers, Julius, Monroe, Charlie and Merle Montgomery; and sister, Joan Neighbarger.
