Ola J. Dales

A funeral service, celebrating the life of Ola J. Dales, age 93, of Heath, will be held on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial willtake place in Mountain Valley Cemetery in Buchanan County, Virginia.Ola was born in Buchanan County, Virginia on February 21, 1922 to the late Cleveland and Stacybelle (Deel) Dales. He passed away on February 16, 2016 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio.Prior to retirement, he worked for Kaiser Aluminum for 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, working on his farm, grafting fruit trees, cooking, and watching Pastor Charles Stanley on TV. He also enjoyed entertaining his family and friends, especially the staff and residents at Chapel Grove Inn. He appreciated talking, helping and visiting with his neighbors.Survivors include his daughters, Connie Waugh, Susan Rader and Sandra (Tom) Hanna; son, David (Ramona) Dales; brothers, Herbert (Betty) Dales, Fern (Geri) Dales and Vadia Dales; sister, Beegie Reece; seven grandchildren, Ashley Waugh, Erin Rostofer, Tasha (Keith) Deleon, Shaun (Carmela) Hanna, Nashua (Tom) Johnson, Tara Dales and Dallas Dales; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, who he adored, Lorraine (Owens) Dales; sisters, Merky Helton and Birchie Helton; and brothers, Anderson Dales and Dallas Dales.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ola to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430.The Dales family would like to thank his neighbors, Jo and John Ficato, and Tyler and Ray; the Chapel Grove Inn Staff; Hospice of Central Ohio; Dr. Petryk and Misty, RN; and his niece, Kitty Shaffer; for all of your help, love and concern.Family will receive friends at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Ola and his family.
