Orval "Butch" Wagner

A graveside funeral service for Orval Butch Wagner, age 79, of Newark, will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 10:00 am at Maple Grove Cemetery in Alexandria, where thethe Licking County Veteran's Alliance will provide military honors.Butch passed away at the Selma Markowitz Care Center on December 17, 2014, while surrounded by family. He was born in Walsh, Illinois on June 29, 1935 to the late Alva Wagner and Olinda (Eggemeyer) Wagner of Chester, IL.Friends may call at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street Newark, on Sunday, December 28, 2014 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.Butch proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Prior to retirement, he worked for Holophane for 37 years. He was a member of the Newark American Legion, Post #85; Newark Moose Lodge, #499; and the Newark Fraternal Order of Eagles, #387. He enjoyed fishing in Lake Erie and watching NASCAR. Most important to Orval, was spending time with his loving family and friends.In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife of 57 years, Margaret (Kean) Wagner, whom he married on September 4, 1957; daughter, Pamela (Gary) Kelley of Newark; sons, Mark (Rhea Woerner) Wagner of Newark and Donald (Debra) Wagner of St. Louisville; brothers, Roland (Betty) Wagner of Chester, IL and Jerry (Sara) Wagner of Sparta, IL; grandchildren, Jared Kelley, Matthew (Shauna) Kelley, Michelle (Stephen) Tuttle, Kimberly (Kurt) Davis, Christina (Kevin) Corell and Maria (Matt) Macy; great grandchildren, Jayden, Natalie, Kelley, Kyleigh, Brooklynn and Ryder; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by one son, Scott Wagner; and one sister, Linda Sue Wagner.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Butch to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, P.O.
