A funeral service to celebrate the life of Patrick David Dyar, 79, of St. Louisville, will be held on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Wednesday, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. He was born in Buckeye Lake on April 27, 1944 to the late Harry Sylvester and Mary Louise (Shaw) Dyar. He passed away at OSU Medical Center on December 14, 2023. Patrick proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Prior to retirement, he worked for the Bayer Corporation for many years. He was a former member of the Newark Eagles and he enjoyed watching westerns, going to the casinos, but most important was the time he spent with his loving family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 25 years, Bonnie Jean (Ridenour) Dyar, whom he married September 20, 1998; sister, Mary “Ginny” Rosshirt; step-son, Walter “Oak” (Penny) Balo; step-daughter, Connie McDaniel; and numerous nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, step-great great grandchildren; and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Donald Dyar, James “Jimmy” Dyar and Michael Dyar; sisters, Dorothy Doll, Ella Cramer and Jean Tolliver; step-sons, Kelvin Boyer and Charles “Sonny” Donahue; step-granddaughter, Kindra Balo; and step-great grandsons, Keegan McDaniel and Koltan McDaniel.
