Family and friends will celebrate the life of Paul D. Pete Cook II, age 78, of Buckeye Lake, at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Buckeye Lake V.F.W. Post 1388, 3430 North Bank Road, Millersport, OH. Military honors will be followed by a memorial service with Pastor Bev Myers officiating, and then a party as Pete requested.Pete passed away on November 14, 2013 at his home, surrounded by his loving family after a courageous battle with COPD. He was born July 7, 1935 in Columbus to the late Paul D. Cook and Myrtle (Hauck) Cook, who survives. He was a graduate of Central High School, class of 1953, where he starred as a pitcher. Pete was a U.S. marine, marrying his wife of 57 years, Judie (Williams) Cook after completing boot camp. He and Judie moved to North Bank on the Buckeye Lake waterfront in 1980. Pete was a commercial electrician, retiring as an estimator from Mid-City Electrical Contractors and a 54-year member of International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 683. He was also a member of the Amigo Club of Columbus, the Buckeye Lake Eagles, and the Buckeye Lake V.F.W. Post 1388.Pete loved playing golf and had many golfing buddies. He was a big Buckeyes, Bengals, and Reds fan. He loved to cook for his family and friends.In addition to his wife and mother, Pete is survived by his son, Paul D. Trey Cook III of Alabama; daughters, Julie Keys (Luke) of Buckeye Lake, Stacy Cook (Ron) of Alabama, and Stephanie Cook (Fred Loewendick) of Buckeye Lake; Brian K. Hess of Florida and Kim Seitzer of Hawaii; five grandchildren, Sean, Craig, Julie Rae, Joshua, and Karley Rae; two great-grandchildren, Madison Rae and Cooper; brothers, David E. Cook of Baltimore and A.R. Pat Cook (Sharon) of Lewis Center; a brother-in-law, Jack Williams (Linda) of Oxford; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and golfing buddies; as well as his pet dog, Lucy.In addition to his father, Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Kim.The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice of Central Ohio and his nurse, Kathy.
