Paul J.W. "Pete" Plants, Jr.

A funeral service celebrating the life of Paul J. W. "Pete" Plants, Jr., age 79, of Heath, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jim Addy officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery.Paul was born October 4, 1935 in Newark, Ohio to the late Paul J.W. Pete Plants, Sr. and Catherine (Williams) Plants. He passed away on January 2, 2015 at the Flint Ridge Nursing and Rehab. Center.Paul was a 1953 graduate of Newark High School and was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1953-56. He retired in 1992 from the Rockwell Corp. after 30 years of service. Paul was a member of the Bloomin Buckeyes Square Dance Club and the Mound City Corvette Club. He served one term on the Newark City Council, was an avid runner and was a NASCAR fan.He is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (David L.) Tuttle of Nashport; sons, Ronald Plants of Orlando, FL and Nathan Plants of Enterprise, AL; a granddaughter, Deanna (Terry) Gatwood of Columbus; great-grandsons, Sam and Jack; a sister, Janet (Tom) Cronin of Newark; brothers-in-law, Wayne Chrisman and Larry Hall, both of Newark; sister-in-law, Margie Hall of California; aunt, Mary (Paul) Waddell of Newark; and nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances (Hall) Plants in 2005; and by a brother, Ronald Plants.Friends may call from 2-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 8, at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark.Memorials may be made to the Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, OH 43058.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home is honored to care for the Plants family.
