A graveside service celebrating the life of Paula Lynn Alexander, age 65, of Hebron, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 27, at Licking Cemetery in Hebron with Pastor Jeff Smith officiating.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Friday at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville. Masks must be worn inside the funeral home and please practice social distancing.

Paula was born February 21, 1955 in Crooksville, Ohio. She passed away on Friday, November 20, 2020 at Licking Memorial Hospital due to Covid-19.

Paula received an Associates Degree in Nursing from Central Ohio Technical College. She retired in 2017 following 34 years of employment with Licking Memorial Hospital where she had been a Registered Nurse and in charge of Risk Management.

Paula was a member of First Baptist Church in Heath and enjoyed collecting Heisey glassware. She loved gardening and canning the produce of her labor. She also loved cooking and baking and was well-known for her delicious apple pies. Her mother taught her to bake apple pies and neither of them really followed a recipe, they simply added “a little bit of this” and “a little bit of that with” with mouthwatering results. Paula was so proud of her children, Angela and Adam, who followed in her footsteps by becoming nurses. She was equally proud of her grandchildren and loved to attend their sporting events. They could tell when she was in the crowd because they could hear her ringing her cowbell to cheer them on.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47 years, Bruce Raymond Alexander, whom she married June 22, 1973; daughter and son-in-law, Angela Marie and Gregory Villinger of Newark; son and daughter-in-law, Adam Craig and Jaclyn Alexander of Newark; grandchildren, Nathaniel Guy (Rochel) Alexander, Brian Gregory Villinger, Robert Alexander Villinger, Jack Robert Alexander and Craig Wiley Alexander; brother, Jeremi Shawn Sherrick (Stephanie Osborn) of Las Cruces, New Mexico; sisters, Pamela Carletti of Dothan, Alabama and Penni (Dave) Brooks of Jacksonville, Florida; sister-in-law, Kristy Sherrick of Alamogordo, New Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Richard Sherrick; mother and step-father, Virginia (Nixon) and Clarence Compston; brother, Royce Sherrick; and brother-in-law, Steve Carletti.
