Raetta "Maxine" Bates

Raetta Maxine Bates, 76, of Heath, passed from this life to her eternal life on January 4, 2018 at the Newark Care and Rehabilitation. She was born and raised in Wallace, WV on August 2, 1941 to Audie R. and Juanita L. (Chrislip) Swiger, whom are both deceased. In her earlier years, she worked for Goodrich in Clarksburg, WV as a secretary. After marriage, she gave birth to a beautiful boy, Tracy T. Bates, who fulfilled her life until God called him home on May 17, 2008. Maxine had a passion for baking and loved sharing with her family and friends. She will always be remembered by many, for her talents in the kitchen. She attended Heath Baptist Church and loved baking for the church members and meals made with love. She leaves behind her loving husband of 53 years, Charles Everett Bates whom resides at their home in Heath; sister, Lulu L. (Gayle) Davis of Wallace, WV; brothers, Michael R. (Edna) Swiger of Clarksburg WV and Bradley L. (Sheryl) Swiger of Fairhope, AL; sister-in-law, Mary Chrislip of Newark; brothers-in-law, Marion J. (Peg) Bates of Newark, Clarence (June) Bates of Baltimore, MD and William (Ethel) Bates of Baltimore, MD. In addition to her parents and son, she was preceded in death by sisters, Sandra L. Casten and Beverly Ann Swiger; brother-in-law, Kenneth L. Chrislip; sisters-in-law, Clara Bates Young, Olive Bates Minnear and Nola Mae Bates Mills. A memorial service celebrating the life of Maxine will be held at later date.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Maxine and her family.
