A funeral service celebrating the life of Ralph E. Mac McElroy, 77 of Newark, will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Donny Owens officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also on Thursday, one hour prior to the funeral service, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. Mac was born in Cambridge, Ohio on May 18, 1940 to the late Larry and Leora (Crawford) McElroy. He passed away on April 27, 2018 at Licking Memorial Hospital while surrounded by his loving family. Mac proudly served his country in the United States Army. Prior to retirement, he worked for Owens Corning for 36 years. He loved watching football (yes, the Cleveland Browns), fishing, and his family, especially his grandchildren. He always told them he loved them to pieces. He also enjoyed Snapchat. The last seven plus years, he fought Alzheimers Disease. It was a courageous fight, but it didnt take away the twinkle in his eyes or the fun loving personality that so many loved about Mac. Surviving are his children Joy (Kevin) Broseus, Jay McElroy and Jodi (Ron) Mortimer; siblings, Loretta Slifko and Larry McElroy; grandchildren, Kyleigh (Rob), Kennedy, Cheyenne, Kassie, Jazmine, Dakota, Holden and McKina; great grandson, Ayden; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia L. (King) McElroy; sisters, Ruth and Maxine; brother, Foster; and two infant sons. The family would like to give a special thank you to Heath Nursing Care Center for the excellent care of Mac Daddy. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Mac to the Carol Strawn Center, 126 W.
