A memorial service, celebrating the life of Ralph Phelps Linnabary Jr., 83, of Hebron, will be held at 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, July 17, 2013 in the Kirkersville United Methodist Church with Pastor Matthew VanWinkle as celebrant. Full Military honors will follow the service, and following that, the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall of the church.Ralph passed away on Saturday evening, July 13, 2013, in Columbus, with his family at his side. He was born in Delaware Co. on June 11, 1930, the son of the late Ralph P. and Olive E. (Bennett) Linnabary. He was a graduate of Mifflin H.S., class of 1948 and The Ohio State University, 1962. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Ralph worked both as a farmer and teacher, teaching at both Newark H.S. and the Newark branch of The Ohio State University. He retired from the State of Ohio, Department of Development.Ralph was a devoted family man, served his Lord and Savior at the Kirkersville United Methodist Church, where he was an active member for many years. He enjoyed plow horses, the Kentucky Derby, and loved to golf.He is survived by his loving family: his wife of 62 years Mary Jane (Wurm) Linnabary, children: Steven R. Linnabary, Rebecca J. (Robert) Rayner, Joel R. (Debbie) Linnabary, Carrie A. (Robert) Breech; grandchildren: Robert J. Rayner III, Jody Lee Linnabary, Olivia R. Rayner, Drew P. Linnabary, Collin P. Linnabary, A. Nikita Breech, Vladimir M. Breech, Emma F. Breech; great-grandchildren: Robert J. Rayner IV, Millicent O. Rayner; along with his brothers Edson B. Linnabary, Dr. Robert D. Linnabary, Nelson Linnabary and sister Linda Turner.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Louis and Ivan Linnabary, and sisters Ruth Hessler and Marjorie Davis.The family prefers that memorials be directed to Heartbeats of Licking County, 336 E.
