A Funeral Mass for Raymond Carl “Ray” Berry, age 93, of Newark, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 30, at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church with Father David Sizemore officiating. Burial will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance.
Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 29, at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home, 179 Granville Street in Newark where a Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m.
Ray was born August 18, 1928 in Newark, Ohio to the late Vivian and Lena (Moore) Berry. He passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Laurels of Heath.
Ray was retired from the United States Postal Service. He was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church where he sang in the choir for many years. He was a very family-oriented man. Ray was a member of the Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post #85.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol Jean (Jones) Berry; four children, Gary Berry of New Albany, Cynthia McGauley of Brunswick, Georgia, Raymond Keith Berry of Cincinnati, and Amy (Kevin) Edmonds of Orlando, Florida; five grandchildren, Gary (Maile) Berry, Elise Berry, Anthony McGauley, Jessica McGauley, and Lauren Edmonds; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Arthurine) Berry; sisters, Barbara Strong, Lorraine Berry, and Josephine (Fred) Elliott; sister-in-law, Carolyn Berry; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters, and a great-grandchild.
