A memorial service celebrating the life of Raymond Douglas Ray Weekley, age 81, of Heath, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, at the Lighthouse Memorial Church, 2600 Walnut Road in Millersport with Pastor Bill Beard officiating. Military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Ray was born July 4, 1935 in Parkersburg, West Virginia to the late Paul Jackson and Zola Marie (Fortney) Weekley. He passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at his home. Ray was a veteran of the United States Army. He retired from Holiday Inn Crown Plaza in Columbus in 1997 where he had been Chief Engineer. Ray was a member of Lighthouse Memorial Church and had been president and a volunteer with the Jacksontown Fire Department. He enjoyed farming and loved tractors. He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Shirley S. (Conkle) Weekley; seven children, Daniel (Debbie) Weekley, Darlene (John Thomas) Kurtz, Diane Large and Douglas Weekley, all of Newark, Doreen Allen of Jefferson, Colorado and Tyshawn Frazier and Michael Flagg, both of Newark; fourteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
