Raymond Wilson Franks

A funeral service celebrating the life of Raymond Wilson Franks, age 88, of Thornville, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 18, at the Thornville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service. Burial will follow in Drumm Cemetery near Thornville.

Friends may call from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home, 56 South Main Street in Thornville.

Raymond was born May 12, 1935 in Thornville, Ohio to the late Woodrow W. and Pauline E. (Lucas) Franks. He passed away on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at his home.

Raymond was retired from Kaiser Aluminum. He enjoyed fishing, farming, gardening, horses, Cowboy music and watching Westerns. Known by many as “The Singing Cowboy”, Raymond sang and played the guitar in local bars for many years.

He is survived by his children, Sarah Franks of Amanda, Jackie Franks of Rushville, Debbie (Rodney) Haines of Athens, and Ray Franks of Thornville; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Franks of Lancaster and David Franks of Corning; sister, Mary Lynn of Thornville; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Franks; a brother, Eugene Franks; and the mother of his children, Margaret "Maggie" Franks.
