Raymond Earl (Ray) Young, 85, of Hebron died peacefully on July 16, 2022, at Riverside Methodist Hospital. He was born on February 7, 1937, in Hartford Township to the late Charles and Nannie (Fletcher) Young. Ray was a member of the Hebron Christian Church. He was a former police chief for the Village of Hebron and a former member of the Buckeye Lake Volunteer Fire Department. He was an avid fisherman and NASCAR fan. He also enjoyed mowing and working on S10 trucks. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Ray is survived by his wife of 62 years, Barbara June (Sheets) Young, of the home. Also surviving are his daughters Jan (Roger) Strohacker of Pataskala and Rae Ann (Tim) Carbaugh of Hebron; grandchildren Brandon (Lindsay) Carbaugh of Thornville, Jeremy (Kathy) Strohacker of Kettering, Brittany (J.P.) Keefe of Thornville, Daniel (Abby) Strohacker of Heath, Brooke Strohacker of Whitehall, and Katelyn Strohacker of Pataskala; and greatgrandchildren Connor, Maggie, and Luke Carbaugh, Logan and Gracelynn Strohacker, Jackson, Finn, and Kaizleigh Keefe, and Kingsley and Rhaelynn Strohacker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepmother, Pauline (Taylor) Young, and his sisters Elizabeth (Young) Rose and Anna Marie Young. Services will be held Thursday, July 21 at 11:00am at the Kirkersville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral Home with Rev. Tina Black officiating. Burial will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens.
