Rebecca S. Bowles, 64, of Thornville, went home to be with the Lord on September 2, 2021 at the Selma Markowitz Care Center, operated by Hospice of Central Ohio. She was born in Ashland, Ohio on October 22, 1956 to the late Bobby H. and Nellie L. (Tucker) Bowles. Rebecca proudly served her country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. She was a professional stenographer and accompanied Ralph Nader to Washington DC as his personal secretary for several weeks. She also served as a secretary to many generals and after her military service, she worked for the US Postal Service. Rebecca enjoyed camping; was an animal rights activist; was a vegan chef; and was an accomplished marathon runner and ultra-marathon runner. Survivors include her siblings, Robin (Michael) Rider, Randi (Carl) Meentzen, Roxanne Bowles and Robert H. (Melodie) Bowles; cousin and best friend, Darla (Dan) Delph VanSickle; her loving felines, Silken and Tofu; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Ray Jones. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rebecca to the Cat House Feline Sanctuary, 1130 E.
