A memorial service, celebrating the life of Rev. Paul Fred Sterneman, age 83, of Etna, Ohio, will be held at the Daybreak Church, 1226 Pike St., Etna, Ohio, on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at 3:00 p.m. Rev. Ronald Julian, Sr. will officiate. Visiting will be held one hour prior to the memorial service, from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m.Paul was born in Wadena, MN, on May 14, 1932, to the late Rev. Fred and Ethel (Peterson) Sterneman. Paul went to be with Jesus at Tuscany Gardens in Pataskala on January 8, 2016, surrounded by his wife and children.Paul attended the Daybreak Church in Etna, Ohio. Prior to retirement, Paul was a Pastor and Church Administrator. He served with the Christian Missionary Alliance; the Free Methodist Church of North America; as a missionary in Quito, Ecuador, and also took several mission trips around the world. Paul was a church planter, starting several churches throughout the United States. He served as Superintendent of the West Virginia Free Methodist Conference.Paul prayed daily for everyone in his family and those God laid upon his heart. He enjoyed traveling, camping, woodworking, and loved spending time with his family and friends.Survivors include his loving wife of 62 years, Truey Anne (Johnston) Sterneman, whom he married August 29, 1953; three children, Dr. Rachel (Jim) Hintz of Pickerington, Ohio, Adjunct Professor at Ohio Christian University; Dr. Thomas (Charlotte) Sterneman of Zimmerman, MN, Pastor of Refuge Free Church, located in Zimmerman, MN; and Dr. Ruth (Ronald) Julian, serving with the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Ivory Coast, Africa; 10 grandchildren, Eden (Ty) West, Paul Hintz, Andrew Sterneman, Abigail (Malachi) Oyer, Albin Sterneman, Allison Sterneman, Travis (Kaylyn) Julian, Brandon Julian, Leticia Julian, and Hannah Julian.In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Lois Darr.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Paul, to the work and ministry of his daughter, Ruth, and her husband in Africa, and his grandson, Travis, and his wife in Indonesia.
