Richard Eugene “Dick” Taggart, 86, of Newark, died Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Sharonbrooke Assisted Living. He was born February 12, 1936, in Newark to the late Lawrence and Evelyn (Kirkpatrick) Taggart. Dick served in the U.S. Navy for 9 years where he was a helicopter pilot. He worked as a school bus mechanic for Southwest Licking Schools for 25 years and retired from Owens Corning after 25 years of service. He enjoyed dancing, golfing, fishing, woodworking, cheering on the Buckeyes, farming, playing cards, especially Euchre, and trips to the casino. He was a member of the VFW and Eagles in Buckeye Lake. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Linda; two daughters, Robin (Sam) Rock and Alyce (Kevin) Browning; four grandchildren, Dawn (Zack) Berghoefer, Shawn Browning, Joshua (Ashley) Browning, and Caleb Rock; 10 great grandchildren and another one the way; two brothers, Jim and John; two sister, Mary and Donna; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Ronnie Taggart. Memorial contributions may be made to the Licking County Veterans Services, 935 Buckeye Ave., Newark, OH 43055. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 p.m. at The Kirkersville home of the HOSKINSON Funeral and cremation service where the funeral service will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jeff Hawkins officiating.
