Richard E. Dornbirer

    A funeral service celebrating the life of Richard E. Dornbirer, 63, of Glenford, will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at the Thornville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service, with Pastor Neal Skiles officiating.  Burial will follow at Highland Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 56 S. Main Street, Thornville, on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Richard was born in Newark, Ohio on August 19, 1955 to the late Robert James Sr. and Fern V. (Dickerson) Dornbirer.  He passed away at Altercare in Thornville on January 5, 2019. Prior to retirement, he was a lab technician with Ampacet Corporation for 38 years.  He was a member of Heath Christian Union Church.  He enjoyed, art, hunting, fishing, watching the Cleveland Indians,  Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes.  He also enjoyed reading and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his loving wife of 41 years, Sandra (Howard) Dornbirer, whom he married July 9, 1977; children, Sharon Dornbirer, Joshua Dornbirer, Jacob Dornbirer and Stephen Dornbirer; grandchildren, Elijah and Caleb Dornbirer; brothers, Robert (Donna) Dornbirer Jr., Rufus Dornbirer and Michael (Penny) Dornbirer; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sharon Dornbirer.
