Richard E. Wright, Sr.

Richard E. Wright, Sr., age 89, of Newark, passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at his residence while surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Newark on April 5, 1927 to the late Hazel Freeman.Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed watching western movies and listening to big band music. Most important in his life was spending time with his wife, Mary and the entire family.Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Mary Lou (Smith) Wright, whom he married March 3, 1976; eight children, Richard Wright, Jr., Martiese Wright, Johnny Wright, Dennis Wright, Charles Lee (Carrie) White, Andrew (Nancy) White, Mary (Patrick) Chidester and Christian (Tonya) Mallory; special relatives, Jeannette Dunn, Lewis Smith and Margaret Henderson; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by one brother, Gerald Freeman.Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard to Foundation For Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058-0430.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Richard and the Wright family.
