Richard Eugene Gillette Sr.

Richard Eugene “Dickie” Gillette Sr. 73, of Newark, died Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at Mt. Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital. He was born May 29, 1949, in Newark to the late Clifford York and Grace Gillette. Richard enjoyed watching races at National Trail Raceway. He was an avid car guy and enjoyed buying vehicles. He especially enjoyed music, singing, and collecting Seiko watches, knives, Zippo lighters, and spending time with his son, John and his fiancé, Joyce. He is survived by two sons, Rick (Eileen Johnson) Gillette and John (Joyce Shanks) Gillette; grandchildren, Derick Gillette and Gabriella Fitzgerald; and brother, Robert Shaw. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Sandy Bricker. Memorial contributions may be made to Church of God at God’s Acres, 675 N. Cedar St., Newark, OH 43055. Visitation will be Tuesday, November 15, 2022, from 5-7 pm at the Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home where the funeral service will be Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at 11:00 am with Pastor Roger Decker officiating.
