Richard A. Harlow

A funeral service celebrating the life of Richard Arthur Harlow, age 88, of Millersport, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 14, at the Millersport United Methodist Church, 2310 Refugee Street in Millersport with Pastor Jim Condrey officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A committal service will follow at Millersport Cemetery where military honors will be observed. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Monday at the Kirkersville Chapel of Hoskinson Funeral & Cremation Service, 285 East Main Street in Kirkersville where the Alturas Lodge #537 F & AM will have a service at 7:30 p.m. and the Millersport Lions Club will have a service at 7:45 p.m.
Richard was born August 22, 1929 in Columbus, Ohio to the late John and Nellie (Rowe) Harlow. He passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at his home.
Richard received a Masters degree in Education from The Ohio State University and retired as the Superintendent Emeritus of the Ohio State School for the Deaf. Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and was a long-time member of the Millersport United Methodist Church, the Alturas Lodge #537 F&AM, the American Legion Post #637, the Millersport Chapter #301 Order of the Eastern Star and the Millersport Lions Club. He enjoyed fishing, boating, camping and spending time with his family and was an avid fan of the OSU Buckeyes. Following his retirement, he and his wife spent over 30 years at their home in Okeechobee, Florida.
Richard is survived by his wife of 65 years, Florence (Mackey) Harlow; three children, John (Brenda) Harlow, Heather (Jeff) Terry and Karen (Chuck) Reedy, all of Millersport; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Blevins, Kristin (Adam) Keller, Justin Terry, Christopher (Amy) Reedy, Nathan (Kathryn) Reedy, Ashlea Harlow, Kevin Harlow and Chance (Natalie) Harlow; eleven great-grandchildren, Rilyn, Coltyn, Kiley and Cody Reedy, Emily, Ava and JC Blevins, Hank, Mack and Duke Reedy and Kenlea Keller; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Barrett.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Millersport United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 296, Millersport, OH 43046.
