November 17, 1923 — April 20, 2015

Richard S Knilans, age 91, of Harbor Hills, passed away Monday, April 20, 2015, at his residence. Born and raised in Columbus, the son of Alfred Sidney and Bernice (Meyers) Knilans. Preceded in death by his parents, sister Patricia Kramer and brother Michael J. Knilans.Survived by his wife of 72 years, Lorna, children son Randy (Patty) Knilans, daughter Kyle Knilans. He is also survived by his grandchildren Rebecca (Jack) Gilchrist and Bradley Knilans; great grandchildren Keegan and Liam Gilchrist, sister Barbara Wetzel and many special nieces and nephews.Dick was a graduate of the Columbus Public Schools, attended Capital University and graduated from Ohio State in 1949. Proud veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps #392 Bomber group, Wendling Air Base, Norfolk, England.Dick spent 40 years in the insurance industry. Longtime member of Eastminster Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and on the Board of Trustees.He enjoyed home remodeling, woodworking, his automobiles, music and shooting a hole-in-one in the many years of golfing.He was privileged to attend Honor Flight in 2012.The family would like to thank Dicks caregivers Tammy and Whitney, the thoughtful neighbors at Harbor Hills and close friends Tom and Marty.If desired, memorials can be made in Dicks memory to: Honor Flight Columbus, PO Box 12036, Columbus, Ohio 43212 or Foundation for Hospice of Central Ohio, PO Box 430, Newark, Ohio 43058.Dick lived by the philosophy: Organization is the Key to SuccessFriends may call on Thursday, April 23, 2015 from 5 until 8:00 p.m. at The Kirkersville home of HOSKINSON Funeral & Cremation Service, where funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estates.
