Richard L. "Rich" Denny

May 17, 1932 — April 5, 2017

A funeral service celebrating the life of Richard L. Rich Denny, age 84, of Hebron, will be held on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home with Pastor Jeff Gill officiating. Interment will follow at Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Licking County Veterans Alliance. Rich was born in Perry County on May 18, 1932 to the late Richard R. and Nellie G. (Kokensparger) Denny. He passed away at Licking Memorial Hospital on April 5, 2017. Rich worked as an insurance agent for Woodmen Life Insurance Company; Dow Chemical; Licking County Aging Program; and was a tour bus driver. He was a founder and volunteer for the swimming for the handicapped program. He also volunteered at the Licking County Aging Program and numerous Shriner events. Rich was a 50 year member of the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio; Warren Chapter # 6, RAM; Bigelow Council # 7, R&SM; St. Lukes Commandery # 34, K.T.; AASR Valley of Columbus Scottish Rite; Aladdin Shrine of Columbus; Licking County Shriners, where he served as past president; Order of Eastern Star #305; 50 year member of Somerset Lodge # 76, F&AM.; and was past commander for the Newark DAV. Survivors include his loving wife, Gloria (Canter) Tracey Denny; children, Stephen Denny, Brian (Karla) Denny and Cynthia Tolley; his ex-wife and mother of his children, Marilyn Denny; grandchildren, Brian (Nichelle) Denny and Jeremy Denny; two great grandchildren, Gabriel and Dominic Denny; step-sons, Mark (Autumn) Tracey and Matthew (Nancy) Tracey; 6 step-grandchildren, Sarah, Mia, Carly, Zachariah, Morgen and Philip Tracey; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Robert Denny; sister, Eileen Kaffenberger, two nieces; and one nephew. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Rich to the Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 179 Granville Street, Newark, on Monday, April 10, 2017 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., where a masonic service will be held at 7:30 p.m. and an OES service will be held at 7:45 p.m.Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral and Cremation Service is honored to care for Rich and his family.
