Richard J. Rauch

Richard J. Rauch, age 80, a lifelong resident of Newark, Ohio, passed away on Monday, March 31, 2025. Born in Newark, Ohio, on November 6, 1944, Richard led a life full of dedication, craftsmanship, and community spirit.

Richard served his country with pride as a member of the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his military service, he embarked on a 42-year career as a delivery and salesman with Matesich Distributing Company, known for his dedication and rapport with clients and colleagues alike.

Richard was a master cabinet maker and spent countless hours indulging in his passions of motorcycling, fishing, and woodworking. A friendly soul, he never encountered a stranger, making friends wherever his journey took him. He also loved his dogs greatly. His involvement in the community was notable; he was a life member of the Newark Moose Lodge and an esteemed member of the American Legion Post 85.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay Marie Rauch; his brother, Michael L. (Patricia) Rauch; two devoted sisters, Anna and Sue; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends and coworkers.

Richard was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Caroline Rauch; his parents, John Rauch Jr. and Alberta Rauch; and his brother, Eugene Rauch.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Criss Wagner Hoskinson Funeral Home in Newark, Ohio. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM, with Celebrant Clifford Mason officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, where military honors will be observed by the Licking County Veteran's Alliance.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Richard's name to Hospice of Central Ohio.
