Funeral services, celebrating the life of Richard Geiger Sharp, 64, of Millersport, will be held Friday, August 24, 2018, at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of The THORNVILLE home of HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, 56 S. Main Street, Thornville, with burial to follow in the New Salem Cemetery.
Rick died unexpectedly on Tuesday, August 21, 2018, following a brief illness. He was born August 7, 1954, in Lancaster, the son of the late Charles Sharp and Marcile Geiger. He was a graduate of Millersport High School, Class of 1972, and Nashville College of Auto Diesel Mechanics in 1973. Rick was co-owner of Sharp Brothers Farm and Lancaster Radiator Services.
He participated in tractor pulling contests, winning many of them, and other antique tractor events. He owned and restored many tractors, as long as they were red! He also enjoyed playing euchre regularly with friends and neighbors, and was an avid OSU buckeye fan.
He is survived by his loving family: children Michelle (Anthony) Michel, Niki (Tony) Bisesi, Derek (Julie Ernst) Sharp, Samantha (Corey) Schilling; siblings Cheri (Ron) Janes, Cathy (Paul) Ickes and Ed (Nancy) Sharp; grandchildren Brooke, Clayton, Taylor, Carly, Nick, Tara, Jenna, Cooper and Abby; nieces and nephews Jennifer, Jeremy, Tony, Sandy, and Alan; significant other Kim Lutz; along with his devoted canine companions “Fred” (It wasn’t her fault she was born a girl!) and “Hank”.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his children Kimberlee Adams.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, August 23, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m., and again on Friday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until time of the funeral.
HOSKINSON Funeral and Cremation Service, Thornville, is honored to care for Rick and his family.
