Richard W. Turner

A funeral service celebrating the life of Richard W. Turner, 86, of Thornville, will be held on Monday, January 6, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at the Kirkersville chapel of Hoskinson Funeral Home, with Pastor Jerry Mears officiating. Burial will follow in Newark Memorial Gardens with military honors observed by the Licking County Veteran’s Alliance. Visitation will be held at the funeral home, 285 E. Main Street, Kirkersville, on Sunday, January 5th from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. with Masonic Service held at 6:00 p.m. by the Pleasant Valley Masonic Lodge. Richard was born in Boswell, PA on July 17, 1938 to the late Aloysius and Flora Belle (Maurer) Turner. He passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital on December 29, 2024. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. Prior to retirement, he was a meat cutter and also owned and operated two grocery stores in Kirkersville and Thornville. He was a member of the Pleasant Valley Masonic Lodge and was a volunteer firefighter at Licking Township Fire Department. He enjoyed motorcycling and was a member of the Free Motorcycle Riders Club and was an avid Ohio State Buckeye and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Survivors include his loving wife, Robin (Galloway) Turner; daughter, Rachelle (Shawn) Fox; stepson, Chad Bliss; sister, Marilyn Riley; grandchildren, Ian, Brennan, Millie, Ainsley, Tomiah, Tasha and Shaun; former wife, Gloria Dressel; nieces and nephews, Christy, Tammy, Jimmy, Kathy, Mark, Cheryl and Dale; and several great grandchildren and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Richard Turner; brother, Don Turner; and brother-in-law, Wayne Riley. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard to Shriners Children’s Ohio, 1 Childrens Plaza, 2 West, Dayton, Ohio 45404.
